چکیده

This study proposes a spider-web elastic metamaterial to suppress vibrations in space slender structures, such as flexible tethers. The consists of unit cells that are periodically distributed on the tether obtain band gaps. finite element model cell is established by employing absolute nodal coordinate formulation (ANCF) due large deformation structure. eigenfrequencies and corresponding vibration modes obtained ANCF. Moreover, gap calculated based phonon crystal theory. relationship between gaps analyzed. Finally, an experiment conducted verify transmission characteristics period cells. results show effectiveness for suppression tether. provides insights into use metamaterials isolation systems.

Active elastic metamaterials for subwavelength wave propagation control

Recent research activities in elastic metamaterials demonstrate a significant potential for subwavelength wave propagation control owing to their interior locally resonant mechanism. The growing technological developments in electro/magnetomechanical couplings of smart materials have introduced a controlling degree of freedom for passive elastic metamaterials. Active elastic metamaterials could...

Dual Space Control of a Deployable Cable Driven Robot: Wave Based Approach

Known for their lower costs and numerous applications, cable robots are an attractive research field in robotic community. However, considering the fact that they require an accurate installation procedure and calibration routine, they have not yet found their true place in real-world applications. This paper aims to propose a new controller strategy that requires no meticulous calibration and ...

Elastic wave transparency of a solid sphere coated with metamaterials

The elastic wave transparency phenomenon of a solid sphere coated with metamaterials is investigated in a solid host medium having nonzero shear modulus. The first three scattering coefficients of the coated sphere are derived in the Rayleigh limit and expressed in terms of the effective parameters of the coated sphere assemblage. It is found that the effective bulk modulus, mass density, and s...

Wave-based control of flexible mechanical systems

here are many contexts, from space structures to disk drive heads, from medical mechanisms to long-arm manipulators, from cranes to robots, in which it is desired to achieve rapid and accurate position control of a system end-point by an actuator working through a flexible system. The system’s actuator must then attempt to reconcile two, potentially conflicting, demands: position control and ac...

Effect of Rotation and Stiffness on Surface Wave Propagation in a Elastic Layer Lying Over a Generalized Thermodiffusive Elastic Half-Space with Imperfect Boundary

The present investigation is to study the surface waves propagation with imperfect boundary between an isotropic elastic layer of finite thickness and a homogenous isotropic thermodiffusive elastic half- space with rotation in the context of Green-Lindsay (G-L model) theory. The secular equation for surface waves in compact form is derived after developing the mathematical model. The phase velo...
